A week or so ago during a quick twitter chat I revealed I had no less than eights books by my bed. My ‘to read’ list is always long especially when I add my monthly guest bloggers works to it! For those of you who may think the number is huge, bear a thought for a bookseller friend of mine. Her daughter went through her ‘to read’ pile a few weeks back and the dizzying height of 24 books was reached. Fairly impressive by anyone’s standards. Usually I have roughly about three books ‘on the go’ at any one time. At least one good fiction work of course  and a non-fiction. It is these works which I usually list on the home page of my site under currently reading, the rest wait patiently for time and the right frame of mind. They may gather a little dust-especially out here in the bush where it seems to seep through the walls, however eventually all are read. So in the pile at the moment include authors such as Helene Young – Shattered Sky, Hilary Mantel – Wolf Hall, The Best Australian Stories 2010, Melissa Penfolds Little Black Book, Lisa Heidke – Claudia’s Big Break, Sara Foster – Beneath The Shadows, David Malouf – The Complete Stories & Gabriel Garcia Marquez’s One Hundred Years Of Solitude. These last two books are re-reads and I’m looking forward to revisting these two marvellous works again. With my book tour commencing in five days I stopped myself from buying any more books when I went to town on friday. While on tour last year I developed the habit of buying a new title from every store I visited. Hmmm, no wonder I’m so far behind in my reading. This year I’ve decided to be a little more restrained, if only because my home library is getting out of control. Even after donating thirty books to a charity late last year, the storage situation hasn’t improved. Still call me old – fashioned, however I’d rather have the physical product any day.
